Karangkraf could also be international students' choice to learn about publishing

SHAH ALAM - Karangkraf Media Group (Karangkraf) is not only a place for Malaysians to gain knowledge about publishing, but international students who are interested are also welcomed to do so, here.

Its chairman Firdaus Hussamuddin said she was proud and happy to be able to share about the operations and values of the publishing company with international institutions.

Yesterday, a total of 75 students from the Babson College, International Islamic University College Selangor (KUIS) and Yayasan Selangor made a visit to Karangkraf, here.

The visit was to aimed at expand the minds of the students and to give them exposure to the world of work.

Firdaus said through the visit, students would be able to witness themselves the process of producing books and newspapers, from the editorial offices to the factory (manufacturing) and how the products were marketed to bookstores nationwide.

"Perhaps there are several factors that would lead them to be interested in Karangkraf. In Karangkraf, we apply good values and fulfil the Islamic aspects of every published reading material.

"When the students read our books, they will be more open, humble, smart and broad-minded.

"The visit could expand the students' minds and expose them to the real world of work. Students will be more open considering that study hours and work hours are very different," she said.

On plans to hold international programmes, Firdaus said it would be implemented through Yayasan Warisan Ummah Ikhlas (WUIF).

"We will hold the World Quran Convention (WQC). So, people will know we are not only a publisher of the Quran, but more than that.

"Maybe there is a plan to call speakers from inside and outside the country to give lectures, especially on the issues facing the youths," she added.
