BUTTERWORTH - The Home Ministry through the Enforcement and Control Division seized 22,929 units of sex toys worth RM1.1 million at a store in Bukit Mertajam on Feb 15.

Enforcement and control division secretary Nik Yusaimi Yussof said the seizure involved illegal goods in the form of sex toys including dolls, male and female genitalias and others.

He said the raid was done through Ops Maya 2.0 at noon after intelligence found the sales of sex toys were rampant in the country's online platforms.

"In the raid we have taken into custody a 29-year-old woman who admitted she was the store's manager.

"Intelligence found they were operating since 2022 where the sex toys were believed to be made overseas and imported through several means," he said in a press conference at the Penang Home Ministry office, here, on Tuesday,

Yusaimi said an investigation paper has been opened under Section 7(1) of the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984 and Section 292(a) of the Penal Code for selling and distributing indecent items.

He said the ministry will take strict action towards any parties involved in immoral activities and disruption of public order.
