KUALA LUMPUR - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim states he did not use his post to interfere in legal affairs of any individual charged in court.

The Tambun MP reminded any action towards those who were guilty were based on the law and not his orders.

"We are talking about injustices and slander. Don't sentence those without evidence. If there are actions taken against those who are guilty don't blame me.

"Don't use the Quran's words to blame me, (accusing me of) oppression and interference. As responsible Muslims are you confident that there is proof that I interfered with charging anyone. If not, that is unjust.

"Slandering my name and using religion......, I did not interfere, you can ask the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the attorney general. Any orders given to them, any actions (must) be based on facts and evidence," he said during the Dewan Rakyat session on Tuesday.

Anwar said this when answering an additional question from Ahmad Fadhli Shaari (PN-Pasir Mas) regarding the government's commitment in taking action towards government projects that were not transparent, such as the littoral combat ship (LCS) case.

The finance minister said the preliminary prosecution for the LCS case was inadequate and the matter had been referred to MACC and it was agreed for the case to go through a second prosecution.

"However, it is not my area to ask and question further, because if I do so there will be claims (stating) that I practice selective prosecution.

"I insist the LCS investigation case must be continue, as previously it was not looked into enough. Let the investigations continue," he stressed.
