We all prayed hard for her success - Nancy
KUALA LUMPUR - Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri expressed her excitement for Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh on her Oscars victory and wished her the best of luck.
Speaking to the media at Dadi Cinema at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur for the live viewing of the Oscars today, she said everyone fully supported Michelle and prayed hard for the actress' success.
"I am overwhelmed by this because this is the first time Malaysia ever been nominated so we really pray hard and give our full support," Nancy said.
"We are confident she will get it. She's really an inspiration," she added.
Nancy described Michelle as a humble person given her lifetime achievement, which inspires other people to feel humble as well.
"We all pray hard for her. Malaysia boleh!" Nancy said.
Michelle Yeoh has won an Oscar for Best Lead Actress for her role in 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' at the 95th Academy awards.
This is the actress' first academy award, and she made history by becoming the first Asian woman to win the best actress Oscar.
The film, directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, arrived at Hollywood's biggest gala at the top of the nominations pile with 11 chances at Oscars glory, including for best picture.
