Youth dies after losing control of vehicle, crashing into trailer
TAPAH - A man has died after losing control of his vehicle and crashing into a trailer at kilometer (km) 77.5 at Jalan Ipoh-Kuala Lumpur on Sunday morning.
The victim known as Muhammad Khairil Aznie Bahraum was from Slim Village, Slim River was driving a Perodua Myvi with two of his friends.
Tapah district police chief superintendent Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail said the trailer was from Johor Baharu heading to Ipoh while the victim's vehicle was from Chenderiang going towards Slim River.
"The victim’s vehicle had lost control in the right lane, crashing into oncoming traffic before hitting the front right tyre of the trailer.
"The driver suffered serious internal injuries and died at the scene due to the impact," he said in a statement on Sunday.
Azharuddin said the two passengers of the vehicle, aged 23 and 24, who were friends from the same village as the victim, suffered light injuries to the head and arms.
He said the 59-year-old trailer driver did not suffer any injuries.
The case was investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and the police are tracking witnesses to the accident as well as bringing both vehicles to Puspakom for an examination.
