KUALA LUMPUR - Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has challenged graft busters to charge Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his deputy Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) must probe both top leadership of the country and not just carry out "selective prosecution" towards him and Bersatu.

“I challenge MACC to charge Anwar and Zahid, the charges made towards me were quick for the purpose of crippling Bersatu and PN before the state elections.

“This is selective prosecution. Not only are the (party) accounts frozen, Bersatu vendors and suppliers were also investigated, not just the leaders.

“What is the purpose of them being investigated?” he said during the president’s policy speech in conjunction with the Bersatu General Assembly at PGRM Tower, here, on Sunday.

Muhyiddin said the move was to create a negative perception towards Bersatu.

“What will happen? Bersatu will be crippled along with PN, they will proceed to create a negative image.

“I want to state most funds were sincerely given without needing any returns such as from Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Albukhary. I stated his name as he was in one of my charges," he said.

The former prime minister added that that he was a close friend of

Syed Mokhtar for almost 40 years. "We know he is a wealthy man, a philanthropist and does a lot charity work. I don’t think the donation given towards Bersatu were a result of gambling money (as claiamed).
