Zahid arrives at Menara Dato' Onn
KUALA LUMPUR - Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi arrives at Menara Dato' Onn at the World Trade Centre (WTC) at 10.30 tonight.
The Deputy Prime Minister was accompanied by Barisan Nasional (BN) secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.
Zahid, who is also Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, was seen entering the Menara Dato' Onn lobby before heading to the elevator with his officials.
It was understood that he was present to witness the tallying of votes for the party's wing election, as the counting process is still ongoing.
Umno's wings meeting and election took place simultaneously in 191 divisions nationwide with an agenda to elect the wings' new leadership for divisional and central levels.
A total of 150,000 delegates had voted to choose the best candidate to uplift Umno Wanita, Youth, and Puteri wings for the 2023–2026 session.
The competition for the Umno Wanita chief post highlighted incumbent Datuk Seri Noraini Ahmad going against Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, who decided to contest after stepping down in 2018.
