The competition for Umno Wanita chief post between Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil and Datuk Seri Noraini Ahmad is becoming more intense.

KUALA LUMPUR - The competition for Umno Wanita chief post between Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil and Datuk Seri Noraini Ahmad is becoming more intense.

Based on the unofficial results, Shahrizat returned to the lead as of 8pm after Noraini was leading for a while.

Umno Wanita deputy chief incumbent Norliza Abdul Rahim is still leading against two others for the number two position of the wing.

Meanwhile, Merlimau state assembly member Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh is still leading the race against three others for the Umno Youth chief post.

The son of Tanah Merah member of parliament (MP) Ikmal Hazlan Hisham is also in the lead against three other contenders for position of Umno deputy chief.

In addition, Umno Puteri deputy chief Nurul Amal Mohd Fauzi is leading for the Umno Puteri chief post, while Umno Puteri exco Siti Sokhleha Nordin is leading for the Umno Puteri deputy chief post.

The 2023/2026 session of the Umno election began today with the voting process nationwide.

For the Umno Wanita wing, two candidates are contesting the permanent chairman position, deputy permanent chairman (4), Umno Wanita chief (2), Umno Wanita deputy chief (2), and 61 for the exco posts.
