Bersatu to discuss Muhyiddin's position today
KUALA LUMPUR - Bersatu Supreme Leadership Council will have a meeting on Saturday to discuss Tan Sri Muhyiddin's position as party president.
KUALA LUMPUR - Bersatu Supreme Leadership Council will meet today to discuss Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's position as party president.
Armada chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal said the meeting will take place at 6.30pm at Taman Melewar.
“We have yet to discuss Muhyiddin’s position at this moment.
“We will hold the Supreme Leadership Council meeting after the Armada meeting finishes.
“After that, the media can ask questions,” he said in a press conference after delivering the policy speech for the Armada Annual General Assembly, here, on Saturday.
He said so when asked whether the supreme council had discussed the issue of Muhyiddin remaining as president.
Muhyiddin was on Friday charged with six counts of money laundering at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court, involving transactions of RM232.5 million and RM195 million.
He was charged as an official of a public body, namely as the Prime Minister and Bersatu president, using his position to solicit bribes totaling to RM232.5 million from an individual Azman Yusoff, 51 and three companies, Bukhary Equity Sdn Bhd, Nepturis Sdn Bhd as well as Mamfor Sdn Bhd for the party’s allies between March 1, 2020 and Aug 20, 2021.
The former Prime Minister was the third Bersatu leader charged in court for criminal charges after party's former information chief Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan and Segambut Bersatu division deputy chief Adam Radlan Adam Muhammad.
On Feb 21, Wan Saiful was charged in court for soliciting and receiving bribes amounting to RM6.9 million involving the Jana Wibawa programme worth RM232 million last year. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Adam Radlan on the same day was charged on two counts of receiving bribes of RM500,000, also related to Jana Wibawa.
