Muhyiddin leaves it to Bersatu to decide if he should remain party president
KUALA LUMPUR - Bersatu President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will leave it to the party's supreme council to make a decision on his position after he was released on bail today.
The Pagoh MP said his situation is different from former Bersatu information chief Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan as he is the party's president.
"I will leave it to the Supreme Council to decide on my position,” he said at a press conference after he was slapped with the charges today.
Earlier today, Muhyiddin pleaded not guilty in two separate Sessions Courts here today to six charges of abuse of power for bribes amounting to RM232.5 million and money laundering amounting to RM195 million, between 2020 to 2022.
"I am the president elected by the party.
"I will leave it to the highest council and I will comply to whatever decision made in the nearest future," he said in a press conference at the Sessions Court here, today.

He, who came to court wearing a black coat with no tie, made the plea after all the charges were read before Judges Azura Alwi and Suzana Hussain.
Muhyiddin is now the second former prime minister after Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, charged under the provision of the same section in the court.
Previously, MACC had frozen Bersatu accounts and several of its members namely Bersatu information chief Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan and Bersatu Segambut deputy chief Adam Radlan Adam Muhammad were charged in court due to connection with Jana Wibawa Programme meant to empower Bumiputera Contractors. Its implementation was approved by the Cabinet on Nov 13, 2020 during PN government led by Muhyiddin.
Tasek Gelugor MP Wan Saiful had resigned as Bersatu information chief following the charges of bribery amounting to RM6.9 million brought against him in court recently.
He had said he wished to resign in order to clear his name, adding however that he remained a member of the Bersatu Supreme Council.
