PUTRAJAYA - The allegation made against Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is just another political persecution.

Its secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin claimed that the accusations against the former prime minister were politically motivated.

He said many supporters have gathered in front of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters, here, to show support to Muhyiddin.

“We gather here today to show that he (Muhyiddin) has tremendous support from all over the country.

“We will fight for the sake of the country and the tyranny against our beloved "Abah" will be brought to justice,” he said when met in front of the MACC building, today.

He also invited all party members and the public to perform "solat hajat" (prayer of need) for Muhyiddin at Taman Melewar, Gombak, tonight.

Muhyiddin has been summoned by the anti-graft agency to have his statement recorded over the Jana Wibawa scandal and the stimulus package funds spent during the period in relation to the Covid-19 management.

Meanwhile, when asked about the Bersatu annual general assembly, Hamzah said they had a meeting yesterday and the party decided to move forward with it.

He explained that this was in accordance with the laws as the party had followed all the rules.

“Unlike some parties which refuse to follow the rules stated by Registrar of Societies (RoS), Bersatu has obeyed the regulations despite what is happening to him (Muhyiddin).

“People know that those who do not comply with the rules should not become leaders of the country,” he added.

PN leaders and supporters have gathered in solidarity of Muhyiddin since, here, 9.30am. Muhyiddin then arrived at the MACC building at about 11.20am.
