KUALA LUMPUR - The melodious recitation of the Quran from a quranic reciting event moved the hearts of two Japanese tourists to convert to Islam.

The story was shared on the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department's (Jawi) official Facebook page on Tuesday.

The women had visited Masjid Negara and heard the recitation of the Quran in an event organised by Jawi.

The statement said the contestant was given the opportunity to communicate the beauty of Islam to the Japanese women.

"Alhamdulillah they recited the shahadah today (Tuesday) before returning to Tokyo.

"With some individuals having their hearts moved by the beauty of Islam why are a portion of us still looking and doubting its truth," the statement said.

Masjid Negara is a destination that is visited by many foreign tourists including those from the land of the rising sun.

Previously a video of cleaner who had welcomed the foreign tourists by communicating with them in Japanese, had gone viral.
