Mat Sabu lambasts Hadi's 'tebuk atap' threats as economic sabotage
AwaniKUALA LUMPUR - Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu has lambasted Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang over his repeated threatening statements on overthowing the government via backdoor mechanisms such as 'tebuk atap' (roof break-in) and the infamous Sheraton Move.
Mohamad said instead of 'piercing the roof', the Sheraton Move or collecting statutory declarations, he should call on members who support the Perikatan Nasional (PN) to change the Unity Government through the next general election.
The Pas president, who is also Perikatan Nasional (PN) deputy chairman, had admitted that the political coalition was trying to 'bring down' the government led by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Mohamad, who is also the Agriculture and Food Security Minister, likened Abdul Hadi's statement to economic sabotage aimed at igniting concerns from investors and the people themselves.
"His statement can indeed scare investors from coming to Malaysia because one of the conditions for investors to spend and withdraw their investment is the well-being, peace and stability of a country.
"The Pas President, who represents the PN, should work hard using everything they have to overthrow the unity government through the next election. This is what nourishes democracy.
"It has been known from the figures presented, the change of three Prime Ministers in time affected the flow of investment to Malaysia," he said via his Facebook on Tuesday.
Mohamad also expressed regret following Abdul Hadi's statement, but was confident that the Anwar-led government would survive until the next general elections.
"Build a civil Malaysia, a democratic Malaysia, change the government through the election system," he said. - Awani
