KJ gives the unity government's 100-day performance B-

SHAH ALAM - Former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin grades Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's 100-day administration performance with a 'B-'.

He said the grade given was much higher than the passing rate as the government’s long-term policy still remains unclear.

The Cabinet members’ achievements were also inconsistent in underscoring the prime minister’s clear direction.

"The 'B-' that I have given to the Madani government’s 100 days is high enough," he said in the First Episode of the 'Keluar Sekejap' podcast programme on Tuesday.

Also present in the programme was former Umno Youth deputy chief Shahril Sufian Hamdan.

Khairy hoped Anwar would not hold the Finance Minister portfolio throughout the five-year tenure.

"I hope Anwar will let go of the finance minister post after the economy stabilises and has a clear direction on where it is headed.

"It is better to separate the positions of prime minister and finance minister in government for an effective administration of the nation," he explained.

He believes the government will perform a re-distribution before implementing the goods and services tax (GST) again.

"If the GST is continued, it will affect Anwar’s politics. This is different from former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's time as premier, where he was associated with the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) case at the time.

"If Anwar is not involved in any scandal and consistently distributes aid to the people, I believe many can accept the GST implementation," he said.

Meanwhile, Shahril gave an 'A-' to Anwar's administration's performance based on early signs for the country’s development and the people’s welfare.

"I think the foundation for all Cabinet members to ensure the country is developed in the future has been set.

"I will not deny that there are many policies continued from the previous government, but they should be praised for caring about the people," he said.
