He said his ministry through the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (SKMM) will hold discussions with telecommunications companies to identify and find appropriate solutions.
"What I emphasised to SKMM was that by this June the problem of network sharing and quality (internet access) should be resolved.
"Through my discussion with telecommunications companies, they have expressed willingness to cooperate, perhaps a little more discussion is needed between them," he said.
He said this at a Town Hall session programme organised by Sinar at Karangkraf Media Complex, tonight.
Meanwhile, Fahmi explained that internet access cannot be judged by the number of telecommunications towers in a place as it was necessary to look at the geographical conditions of the area involved.
"Therefore we will strive for broadband wireless access (BWA) that will use technology such as satellite, perhaps we will look into Wide Space TV and some other technologies that will help provide access," the Lembah pantai MP said.
Currently, three per cent of populated areas in the entire country does not have access to the Internet.
