Policeman's gunshot under left eye caused wife's instant death
KANGAR - Police have identified a gunshot wound below the left eye as the cause of death of a 26-year old woman who was found in the bedroom of her family home in Kampung Bendang Baru, Simpang Empat, near here, on Sunday.
Kangar District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Yusharifuddin Mohd Yusop said that the shot was believed to have been fired at around 7 am this morning by the woman's husband, a police Lance Corporal, resulting in the victim's instant death.
"At the time of the incident, the suspect and his wife, the victim's father and mother, were in the house.
"The suspect fired several shots, but one shot hit the victim under the left eye, causing death.
"A 27-year-old suspect with the rank of Lance Corporal on duty at the Perlis Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK) has been arrested and will be remanded tomorrow," he said in a statement on Sunday.
Yusharifuddin explained the victim's body was sent to the Tuanku Fauziah Hospital (HTF) in Kangar for an autopsy.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
However, as Yusharifuddin added that the police were still investigating to discover the motive behind the incident. - Awani
