MCA central committee elections set for September

KUALA LUMPUR - MCA's party elections for its central committee will be held on Sept 24, while elections for its youth and Wanita wings have been set for the day before, its secretary general Datuk Chong Sin Woon said today.

He said Sept 11 has been set as the date for nominations for all posts to be contested at central committee as well as both wings.

"All information pertaining to the party elections will be displayed online at http://mcape.mca.org.my for the reference of all members who will be contesting," he said after attending MCA's 74th anniversary celebrations here today.

Chong added that the MCA elections will begin with branch level elections across the country next month, with nominations for branch level posts set for April 20, before branch level elections to be held over two days on April 29 and 30.

Divisional elections will then be held in June, with nominations set for June 1 and elections to be held on June 10-11.

"Nominations for state MCA Youth and Wanita leaders will be held on July 27, while the state level elections for Youth will be held on Aug 5 and Wanita on Aug 6," said Chong.

He added that the party elections will be held in accordance with Article 167 of the MCA Constitution, which requires party elections to be held within six months of general elections.- BERNAMA
