Floods: Pahang extends basic needs aid to Johor

KUANTAN - The Pahang government is channeling aid in the form of basic needs worth almost RM80,000 to flood victims in Johor.

Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the items contributed were mattresses, floormats, self care kits and disposable diapers among others which were sent to the state, today.

He said the mission will be done to aid victims stranded in the state.

"Previously we sent aid for victims in Terengganu and Selangor.

"Now we are off to Johor to ease the burdens of the victims there," he said.

He said this when met at the Pahang Prihatin Humanitarian Aid Mission to Johor at the disaster-needs-storage-depot of the Pahang social welfare department, here, today.

Also present were state secretary Datuk Seri Dr Sallehuddin Ishak, state Social Welfare, Women and Family Development exco Datuk Sabariah Saidan, Pahang social welfare department director Datuk Zulkhairi Zainol Abidin and Kuantan Mayor Datuk Hamdan Hussin.

Rosdy said the assistance were provided as a moral support for the people in Johor facing the floods.

"As a state that is often flooded, we understand the difficulties they face.

"Hopefully the aid will ease the burden of flood victims who were stranded," he said.

Rosdy said the flood victims in Pahang was not facing any problems in terms of supply of basic needs and food.

"Everything is managed well and there are no issues of supplies being delayed and such.

"All parties have paid attention and took appropriate action to aid flood victims in the state including in Rompin that was heavily affected," he said.
