KOTA BHARU - The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) will request the government to provide incentives to Menu Rahmah operators.

Its minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub said he will extend the application to Economy minister soon.

"The government or the ministry did not spend a cent for Menu Rahmah.

"It is more of a voluntary participation by the operators, on behalf of KPDN. However, the revised budget state RM720 million is given to the economy minister for various initiatives to help B40 groups and those in need," he said in a press conference today.

Prior to that he had officiated the Kelantan level Menu Rahmah at Restoran Al Khalish, Pasir Tumboh here.

Also present were Kelantan KPDN director Azman Ismail and Al Khalish Group founder Hassan Saifuddin.

Salahuddin said that with the budget provided, Menu Rahmah operators could be given initiatives and guidance.

In addition, Salahuddin said a total of 1,142 food premises nationwide are now offering Menu Rahmah.

He said there were 61 premises in Kelantan and the number was expected to increase.
