KUALA LUMPUR - Members of Parliament once again are reminded to read and understand the meeting rules to ensure that Dewan Rakyat is no longer 'labelled' as a zoo by the public.

Deputy Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat Datuk Ramli Mohd Nor said that members of the August house, especially those who are new representatives for the first time, are advised to refer to the established rules.

He said members of Parliament are also encouraged to ask questions if there are matters or issues that are not understood to avoid the occurrence of the parliament appearing unorganised,

Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim (PN-Arau) had previously raised a motion that the issue of importing eggs from India be debated since the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had informed that the import would be done through an open tender.

"Arau (Shahidan) you have been an MP for about six terms. I think you would already be clear on the rules of this house, especially rule 18, 43, 17 of the rule book

"I suggest that you forward your request in writing because the Speaker has to look again at your proposed motion

" Please take note of the rules mentioned above and also rule 35, 36, 37 (meeting rules), that's what we talked about in this house and if it happens, the decision will be based on rules 44, 99, 99A

"If we follow the rules accordingly people will not label us as a 'zoo' Ramli said during the Budget 2023 debate session at the Dewan Rakyat today.
