SHAH ALAM - Landasan Lumayan Sdn Bhd (LLSB) defends Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and state executive councillor Izham Hashim who are alleged to have abused their power after awarding a firm a river-widening project.

Online news portal Free Malaysia Today (FMT) reported that LLSB, which was a subsidiary of Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) (MBI) said the duo sat on the LLSB board to represent the interest of the state government.

Amirudin was also an MBI board member while Izham was the state councillor in charge of infrastructure and public amenities, agriculture modernisation and agro-based industry.

“Amirudin and Izham represent the state government’s interest to ensure the project can be executed in a transparent and orderly manner, in line with the state government’s objective,” LLSB managing director Syaiful Azmen Nordin said in a statement sighted by the news portal.

Earlier today, Selangor Bersatu lodged a police report against Amirudin and several other individuals including Izham over allegations of abuse of power.

Its Puchong division chief Mohd Shukor Mustaffa said the report was made to urge the police to launch an investigation on criminal offences of abuse of power, governance and conflict of interest.

Shukor said the Selangor Maritime Gateway project was dealt through a direct negotiation, which was later denied by Amirudin’s press secretary Jay Jay Denis.

The project was involved the widening of a 56-kilometre stretch of the Klang River from the Mid Valley City in Kuala Lumpur to Port Klang, which is said to cost RM700 million.
