Johor police confirm viral video of collapsed bridge happened abroad

JOHOR BAHRU - Johor police has confirmed that viral footage of a bridge collapsing and swept away by currents on social media did not happen in Johor.

Johor Police chief Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said the the 20-second-video went viral via an account under the name 'naturelikeit' on TikTok.

He confirmed that the incident occured abroad and not in Johor.

"Johor Police has found the video posted by a TikTok user under the name 'naturelikeit' posted on Dec 12 and confirms that the incident did not happen in Johor but is believed to have occured abroad.

"The public is advised to not spread fake news or messages that would cause fear and anxiety to the community," he said in a statement today.

Kamarul Zaman also said any party that spread fake news or messages can be prosecuted.
