Colombia legend Falcao linked with move to JDT
KUALA LUMPUR - Former Colombia striker Radamel Falcao has been linked with a shock move to nine-time Malaysian Super League (MSL) champions Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT).
According to Spanish sports daily Marca, Falcao who is currently on the books of La Liga outfit Rayo Vallecano until June, was considering an offer from JDT, having previously played for Spanish giants Athletico Madrid and on loan at English giant Manchester United.
Marca reported JDT coach Esteban Solari was interested in signing Falcao on a two-season contract, before the 37-year old, nicknamed 'El Tigre', would be made an ambassador for the club and for Johor.
"While finalising negotiations with the team Falcao is seen to be interested in a new professional endeavour despite also being targetted by Peter Lim to strengthen Valencia," the report stated.
Valencia, owned by Singaporean businessman Lim, was reported to be interested in the services of Falcao, who had a one-season loan at United in the 2014-2015 season.
Should Falcao decide to join JDT, it would become the 10th club of his career, having also played for River Plate in Argentina, FC Porto in Portugal, AS Monaco in France, Chelsea and Turkish giants Galatasaray.
He has Europa League winners medals, with Porto in the 2010-2011 season and Atletico Madrid (2011-2012), having also helped Atletico Madrid to the European Super Cup in 2012.
However, Falcao would only be available for JDT after the MSL transfer window reopens on July 5-Aug 1.- BERNAMA
