JOHOR BAHRU - A total of 89 sijil pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates in Segamat and Kulai have been stranded and unable to sit for their exams due to floods on Wednesday.

State Education, Information and Communication committee chairman Norliza Noh said the stranded students were involved in seven examination centres in Segamat and one in Kulai.

"The candidates in Segamat were in Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tenang Stesen, SMK Bandar Putra, SMK Tinggi, SMK Gemereh, SMK LKTP Pemanis, SMK Dato Bentara Dalam and SMK Labis Segamat.

"SMK Taman Putri was affected in Kulai. The examination today involved the Science and Physics subjects with SRT (home sciences) exams taking place in the evening," she said in a statement today.

She said some examination centres in Pasir Gudang, Johor Bahru, Kluang, Batu Pahat and Kota Tinggi were affected by floods causing a delay in the exams for SPM candidates and were forced to be taken in another exam centre.
