Sidec looking for 10 Malaysian startups to bring to US stage
SHAH ALAM - The Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) is calling on local startups to join its Pitch Malaysia USA series.
The programme’s aim was to expose local startups to global investors and for Malaysians to scale their companies to the United States (US).
This is the third time that Sidec was bringing Malaysian startups on an expedition to the US.
According to the Vulcan Post, Sidec chief executive officer Yong Kai Ping said he has seen a good deal of high-potential startups that could expand to the international level and receive investments that could make them among the unicorns.
He said he believed that Malaysia could achieve its national goal of attracting and growing five unicorns by 2025.
Those who have a game-changing innovation and prepared to scale in new markets could do so with Pitch Malaysia USA Series.
Applications are open from Feb 20 to March 10.
Sidec is looking for tech startups that could complement Selangor’s growth and development, across IoT, fintech, ecommerce, agritech, and the like.
The 10 high-potential startups will be chosen by Sidec’s selection committee, based on their company’s scale and business potential in the market.
The startup companies that have been shortlisted by Sidec will be announced on March 16.
Since 2020, Sidec has been bringing local startups on multiple overseas missions, such as China, Indonesia, Dubai, Vietnam, and Bangkok.
