KOTA KINABALU - A boy died after falling from a window on the 14th floor of a hotel building here on Monday.

In the incident at about 6.30am, the 12-year-old victim is said to have fallen to the fourth floor balcony of the building.

Kota Kinabalu Fire and Rescue Station chief Ordine Gilu said they received a call regarding the incident at 6.44am via the 999 emergency line.

He said a total of seven officers were sent to the scene of the incident which is three kilometers away from BBP Kota Kinabalu.

"An incident occurred at a hotel in Kota Kinabalu involving a boy who fell from a window on the 14th floor to the balcony of the fourth floor of the hotel.

"The fire brigade carried out an operation to bring the victim down and he was confirmed dead at the scene by the medical team," he said in a statement on Monday.

He said the victim's body was then handed over to the police for further action.

"The operation was also concluded at 7.53am," he said.
