PUTRAJAYA - The Malaysian Doctor of Circumcision Society (MADOCS) aims to standardise circumcision fees in Malaysia.

Its president, Dr Abdul Rashid Masrom, stated that one of the reasons he established MADOCS is that the circumcision fee procedure in Malaysia is not yet standardised.

"Some places are too expensive, some places are too cheap, so this is an important thing that we are going to discuss among the members," he said today at the second-day of the Malaysian International Circumcision Conference 2022 (MICC 2022) at the Everly Hotel in Putrajaya.

Besides meeting among the members, Abdul Rashid further added that MADOCS will bring this matter to the Health Ministry as well.

Dr. Mohd Tarmizi Mohd Nor, a member of the Malaysia Association of Paediatric Surgery, agrees with this viewpoint.

"I truly support this issue. We are not in a price war. We must work together to standardise circumcision fees in Malaysia," Tarmizi added.

Separately, Abdul Rashid also welcomed more medical professionals in order to educate Malaysians on circumcision.

"I am welcoming all doctors, medical-related personnel, and medical personnel to join MADOCS in order to enhance the quality of circumcision surgery, and we should be playing important roles in circumcision surgery in Malaysia," he said.

With the mission of providing a suitable platform for medical professionals to enhance circumcision-related knowledge and skills in order to provide quality and safe circumcision for the community, Abdul Rashid further added that there are many upcoming activities and projects planned by MADOCS.

"We are going to do mass circumcision programmes using various methods and techniques of circumcision that are available in Malaysia."

"MADOCS also want to organise a national-level circumcision seminar for circumcisers. We also want to organise more corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities that will involve welfare organisations and (non-governmental organisations (NGOs) with the participation of individuals and companies as sponsors."

The two-day conference, aimed at discussing the latest guidelines and recent innovations in circumcision in Southeast Asia.

This conference features seven prominent speakers from Malaysia, Myanmar, and Indonesia, as well as other delegates from local and international organisations.
