100 DAYS: The people's cost of living problems remain unresolved - Wan Saiful
KUALA LUMPUR - Tasek Gelugor member of parliament (MP) Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan said the Unity government still has much to improve as the government turns 100-days old.
He said there have been many rhetorics expressed and many new literary words added to the 'political dictionary' but the pressing issue plaguing the people has not been addressed.
"The people have been pleading with the government to allow targeted withdrawals of the Employee Provident Fund (EPF).
"It is their money, not the government's money, is not difficult to give. The same goes for other things, such as the subsistence fishermen's allowance, which was asked to increase from RM300 to RM500, but has never been acknowledged by the government, and many more.
"So I think the solution to the cost of living for the people has not been fully addressed by the government of today. Moving forward, I hope there will be changes," he said when met at the Parliament Building, recently.
He added that the government should now focus on the issue of the cost of living.
It is understandable that the government is trying to generate new ideas to solve the issue, but it should not take too long, said Wan Saiful.
He also suggested that the government provide a platform for the opposition and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to present their views on Malaysia.
