PH and BN hold informal meeting on upcoming state elections for Negeri Sembilan

SEREMBAN - An informal meeting has been held between PH and BN to discuss preparations for the upcoming state elections in Negeri Sembilan.

Pakatan Harapan (PH) Negeri Sembilan chairman Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said he has met with the state Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan to discuss on the state elections.

However, he said, it was just a normal conversation about the elections after the retabling of the Budget 2023 by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"Unofficially, we had a chat, even yesterday (Friday) there was a meeting with Tok Mat. God willing, a formal discussion next week or the week after, discussion was on the division of seats, whether to fight together and so on," he told reporters after officiating the Al-Mizan Fiqh Workshop and the launch of the state's Takmir Teachers Initiative here on Saturday.

Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari was reported as saying tha the Menteri Besar and chief ministers from six states have reached an agreement to consider the dissolution of their respective state assemblies in the last two weeks of June to pave the way for state elections.

The six states that will hold elections this year are Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Selangor, Terengganu, Kelantan and Kedah.

In the meantime, Aminuddin who is also Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar said, the last Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Conference for this term is scheduled to be held in the middle of March.

Commenting on the statement by Deputy Prime Minister, BN Chairman and UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi that BN will use its own symbol in the state elections Aminuddin said that it was up to the PH leadership to decide.

"If they want to use their own logo or a new logo, that's fine and I think it's up to the leadership to decide," he said.
