Students arrested for spewing curse words about SPM History exam
MUHAMMAD AMINNURALIFFHULU SELANGOR - Police have arrested two students in connection to a viral video showing high school students expressing frustration with the questions in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) History paper.
Hulu Selangor district police chief Superintendent Suffian Abdullah said the two 18-year-old students were arrested after the police received a report from a female teacher.
"The police previously received a report from a female teacher about the viral footage showing students throwing insulting words as they were allegedly upset with the questions in the history paper.
"Acting on the information received, a police team from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Hulu Selangor district police headquarters (IPD) raided a house around Hulu Selangor and arrested two suspects believed to be students in the footage," he said in a statement today.
He said the police confiscated the mobile phones believed to be used by the suspect.
"The screening test found that both suspects were negative for drugs and had no past criminal records.
"The case is being investigated in accordance with Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1995 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998," he said.
On Thursday, a video went viral on social media showing individuals uttering insults after allegedly being upset with a question in the SPM History subject.
The student was also insulting the country in the same video.
