KUALA LUMPUR - Opposition lawmakers expressed their disappointment with Budget 2023 with some claiming their rights to serve the people have been denied.

Bersatu Youth Chief Wan Ahmad Faysal Wan Ahmad Kamal said their rights as the oppostion party was cut down.

"I am not satisfied with the Budget 2023 because our right as opposition members of Parliament to serve the people is denied," he said.

Meanwhile, Bachok Member of Parliament Mohd Syahir Che Sulaiman welcomes the Budget 2023 as it ensures transparency, however he felt that opposition were somehow left out.

"I welcome the commitment of the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to ensure transparency in government distribution and expenditure.

"It's just that our side is a bit aggrieved because we don't see seriousness from the aspect of distribution to opposition states," he reasoned.

Arau MP Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim went further by labelling the Budget 2023 as a 'revenge'.

Shahidan said a matter of fact, the re-tabling of Budget 2023 also pressured the opposition.

"In this situation, we are stressed because there is no allocation. This allocation is not us asking for anyone's money, we are asking for the MP’s budget, we are not asking for anyone’s money, that should not be discriminated against.

"The current government is a Madani government, the word Madani means justice but it seems we can't get justice.

"We in the opposition are disappointed. The people say they will not be discriminated against, but it is the MPs who are discriminated against," he told reporters at parliament today.

The Budget 2023 saw a total value of RM388.1 billion, the largest in the country's history.

The revised budget’s amount is RM13.8 billion higher than the budget announced during the Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakub's “Keluarga Malaysia” administration in October last year, which was RM372.3 billion.

Meanwhile, the budget for 2022 is RM332 billion and 2021 is RM322 billion.
