KUALA LUMPUR - As Malaysians wait in anticipation for the unveiling of the revised 2023 budget, the atmosphere in Parliament seems to be calm as media personnel from various agencies settle in before the retabling.

The budget is expected to be a slight expansion from the previous budget tabled by former Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Aziz under Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri's administration. This revised budget is seen as a way to boost support ahead of state elections and amid rising costs of living that is currently afflicting the people.

Many will be questioning what kind of measures will be taken by the government to help aid with the rising costs and various other issues surrounding education, tax, health, transport and subsidies.

Yesterday Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub told Sinar that there would be good news in the revised budget for the B40 community and that the unity government was committed in tackling poverty issues.

He added that he believed all ministries will be given sufficient allocations.
