KUALA TERENGGANU - The police have submitted investigation papers over Pas Youth’s controversial parade involving fake weapons in conjunction with the Himpunan Pemuda Islam Terengganu (Himpit) 2023 programme in Setiu on Feb 17.

Terengganu police chief Datuk Rohaimi Md Isa said the investigation papers have been handed over to the State Prosecution Office by the Terengganu Contingent Police Headquarters Criminal Investigation Department, yesterday.

"So far, a total of 36 statements have been taken from the organiser and participants of the programme.

"The proposed charges against the organiser are under Section 4(1)(a) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955," he said in a statement, today.

Rohaimi said the police received five reports over the issue.

On Sunday, a video of a group of men marching while carrying replica weapons during the Himpit programme went viral on social media.

The action sparked various polemics on social media.

Besides the replica weapons held by the participants who were clad in mediaeval Islamic war costumes, there were also a giant sword and a four-wheel-drive vehicle.
