PM conveys condolences to family of scholar Prof Mohd Kamal Hassan
KUALA LUMPUR - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim conveys his condolences to the family of former International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) Rector Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dr Mohd Kamal Hassan, who died today.
In a Facebook post, Anwar said Mohd Kamal was a prominent Islamic scholar who greatly contributed to the world of academia, research, education and development of the human capital.
"My condolences to the family and I pray that his soul would be placed among the pious," he said.
The passing of Mohd Kamal, he said would certainly leave a deep mark in the hearts of the people.
Mohd Kamal died at the age of 80 early this morning due to complications related to a surgical procedure.
His remains was buried at the Bandar Baru Bangi Muslim cemetery. - AWANI
