Chaos erupted in Dewan Rakyat after 'Menu Rahmah' raised
NURUL HUDA HUSAIN DIANA AZISKUALA LUMPUR - The Dewan Rakyat sitting today descended into chaos when the Menu Rahmah issue was raised.
The commotion started after Sany Hamzah (PH-Hulu Langat) claimed that Halimah Ali (PN-Kapar) issued a statement that the menu could cause health risks such as cancer and autism.
Prior to that, Sany stood up when Datuk Azman Nasrudin (PN-Padang Serai) debated the Royal Decree proposal and spoke about the Menu Rahmah introduced by the government.
"Kapar (Halimah) falsified fscts claiming Menu Rahmah can cause cancer and autism because she was jealous. Kapar should withdraw the statements that defamed the move," he said.
Halimah responded by saying her statement was taken out of context.
"What Hulu Langat said is not right.. If we review hansard, I didn't say a word that Menu Rahmah could cause cancer," she said.
The debate became more 'heated' after opposition members joined in to 'attack' Sany by accusing him of not understanding and saying how he should 'go back to school'.
Halimah also asked Sany to re-examine what she had said with a 'clean heart'.
"Re-examine and listen with a clean heart, and with Allah SWT's will, you can hear it clearly," she said.
The verbal war lasted for several minutes before Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Johari Abdul intervened and asked the Dewan Rakyat to calm down to allow Azman to finish his debate.
