Kelantan PKR State Leadership Council (MPN) chairman Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said the strong opposition presence was to ensure Pas Kelantan's administration had an opposition that could provide a good check and balance for the state government.
"Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) is focusing on being a strong opposition and not to replace the existing government.
"A strong opposition in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) can prompt a fruitful debate with more in depth discussions that can raise more varying opinions," he told reporters during aPKR dinner function with Kelantan media practitioners here on Sunday.
He said PKR has conducted a study on the locals through the 15th General Election (GE15) results.
From the results, Nik Nazmi said the Unity Government needed to work harder to win the hearts of the people in Kelantan in the next state elections.
Nik Nazmi said PH and BN needed to formulate the best strategy because Pas has been governing the state for more than 30 years.
"It is a relief that the state elections this time only involves a two-cornered clash between Pas, PH and BN only.
"It is an advantageous situation after the three-cornered fight in the last GE15," he said.
