SEREMBAN - DAP admits the party still needs time to adapt to Barisan Nasional (BN) as part of one coalition.

Its secretary-general, Anthony Loke, said this is because both parties didn't align with each other in terms of their objectives but chose to form a Unity government after the 15th General Election (GE15).

"For the Negeri Sembilan DAP Convention today, we did not invite Umno, and in the 2022 Umno General Assembly, similarly, they did not invite anyone from the People's Justice Party (PKR) or the Prime Minister.

"This is an adaptation process, and we have yet to reach that level of understanding yet. Every party still needs to explain to the grassroots," he said.

Loke was speaking at the Negeri Sembilan DAP 2023 Convocation Ceremony here on Sunday.

However, he said, today's political context has changed due to the formation of the Unity Government which led to an understanding with the party that has been opposing Pakatan Harapan (PH) since a long time ago.

For this reason, he said, it is important for every member of the party, especially the grassroots, to learn to adapt.

"I know my friends at the grassroots have not been able to adjust themselves. But the process of us adjusting ourselves to this political phase needs time.

"In the context of cooperation in the Unity Government today, it is not cooperation between parties but cooperation between coalitions," he said.

Loke, who is also the Negeri Sembilan DAP chairman, believes that not only DAP but PKR and Amanah also still need time to adapt.

In addition, he also reminded all parties in PH to be united so that the coalition formed continues to remain intact and strong.

"DAP also wants to give a commitment that we will not go solo. Our seats are PH seats," he explained.
