SHAH ALAM - Violence and display of violence are strictly a no especially for Malaysians, says MCA vice president Ti Lian Ker after a video clip of Terengganu Pas Youth members' act of marching with what appeared to be swords, spears and shields.

He spoke on Malaysian values.

"Ours is a culture of tolerance, peace and harmony.

"Ours is a political culture of consensus building and not confrontational or resorting to warlike posturing.

This has to stop and be stopped." he told Sinar Daily.

It is understood that the march took place on Friday in Setiu, Terengganu, at the beginning of the two-day Pas Youth gathering known as Himpunan Pemuda Islam Terengganu (Himpit).

Ti urged the authorities to put their "foot down and investigate."

"Those who are responsible must be stopped.

"The perceived advocacy of violence in our Malaysian politics must be nibbed at the bud." he urged.

Ti further called on political leaders to be responsible and not advocate violence in any form especially in a multicultural, multiethnic and multireligious nation like Malaysians .

Terengganu police chief Datuk Rohaimi Md Isa said they are investigating the matter.
