SHAH ALAM - Scammers will always keep up with the latest technologies and be one step ahead of the victims.

Crime prevention specialist Dr Shamir Rajadurai said criminals understood human nature better than everyone.

He said as technology advanced, there will be an increase in scams as well.

“We failed to understand that criminals understand human nature better than us. That’s why scams are very effective,” he said.

Shamir said this during Sinar Daily’s Wacana English Edition programme entitled “Scammer Alert, Don’t Fall for It" which was aired on Sinar Daily and Sinar Harian's digital platforms, last night.

He said scams were usually conducted by big syndicates.

With the proper scripts to follow, the perpetrators fully comprehend what would be the next step, he added.

“Also to make sure victims won't seek help, the perpetrators would tell the victims that they can’t talk about this with anyone.
