Sinar Karangkraf channels first phase aid of RM50,000 to earthquake victims
MOHAMAD AMREEL IMAN ABD MALEKSHAH ALAM - Sinar Karangkraf has started channelling the first phase of the Sinar Karangkraf x Syria Care #BantuanBencana funds of RM50,000 for the Turkey-Syria earthquake victims.
Its marketing department chief Nik Justin Nik Mohd Ariffin said the aid will be used by the humanitarian mission teams in both countries to purchase basic necessities such as heating materials, food, tents, and medicines.
"The distribution locations in Syria included Al Bab, Al Zouf, Aqrabat, Azmarin, Jinderis, Hatia, and other areas in Turkey.
"We are balancing the aid in both countries, but we are focusing more on Syria as the situation there is quite critical and assistance from other parties is more focused in Turkey," he said to Sinar.
Nik Justin said he is targeting a long-term plan to aid earthquake victims, including initiatives to rebuild homes and create permanent settlements for them.
"This has been our focus from the very beginning, but currently we are focusing on channelling aid to those who need it.
"I would also want to thank the public, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), corporate companies, and schools who have contributed generously," he said.
The Sinar Karangkraf x Syria Care disaster relief fund has collected donations of RM133,770.74 as of Friday.
Donations can be made to Sinar Karangkraf Sdn Bhd Maybank account 564276-529068 or directly through the website https://info.sinarharian.com.my/tabung-bantuanbencana-sinar-karangkraf-x-syria-care/
