Wife accused of killing her husband with her colleague
SHAH ALAM - The Magistrate's Court here today charged a woman from India and her male colleague with the murder of her husband two years ago.
Lachhami Devi, 23 and Varun Kumar, 30, both wearing black shirts nodded in understanding as the charge was read out in English before Magistrate Muhammad Syafiq Sulaiman.
However, no confession was recorded from the two accused, who were both Indian nationals and the case was under the High Court's jurisdiction.
They were jointly charged for killing Arshdeep Singh, 25, at an elderly care centre in Subang Jaya at 1.30am on Oct 31, 2021.
They were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code and read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code which carries death penalty if convicted.
The prosecution was conducted by the Deputy Public Prosecutor Kamarul Iman Ahmad and Lachhami was not represented by a lawyer while Varun was represented by lawyer Dr Pritam Singh Doal.
The court did not allow bail and had fixed April 14 for mention.
A Punjabi interpreter will also be present on the day.
