'Behave, don't let Dewan Rakyat be called a zoo', says Deputy Speaker
NURUL HUDA HUSAIN MUKHRIZ MAT HUSINKUALA LUMPUR - Members of Parliament (MPs) are once again reminded to always be civil to ensure that the public would not continue to label the Dewan Rakyat as a "zoo".
Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Datuk Ramli Mohd Nor said the people currently see the House as a place for "arguments" rather than one that resolved the people's issues.
"I would also like to remind that we are being broadcasted live.
"Yesterday, I went to the mamak shop and they (the people) recognised me.
“(They asked), how is the zoo? I was surprised, this is the perception of the people out there. So, I hope (all MPs) stick to their ethics," he said in the Dewan Rakyat here, today.
Ramli also reprimanded several MPs for their behaviour for holding "small meetings" while the other MPs were debating or when the ministers were answering questions.
"I hope there are no small meetings in the hall. While a person was speaking, there were also small meetings held (in the hall) here and there.
"Please pay attention and I hope all MPs take note of this," he said.
