SHAH ALAM - Former Umno supreme council member Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin says there a dispute between the older and younger generation in Malaysia when it comes to films with explicit scenes.

On a Politically Frank segment, Sinar Daily spoke to former Communications and Media Deputy Minister on an upcoming local film titled Pulau which had sparked criticisms on Malaysia's censorship board across social media for its controversial trailer.

Zahidi recalled a protest taking place when he was in the ministry over the last installment of Thor films due to the presence of inappropriate sexual elements. He said, "Most of the youngsters protested as they insisted that they know what is good and bad.

"While, the country might have changed its view, the older generation still do not sit right with such films that are very likely to include actions that are not appropriate. However, the youngsters on the other hand, will not necessarily react the same," he said.

The ex-Umno man pointed that the youths were vocal on the fact that they know how to take care of themselves.
