Rafizi to submit motion against Fayhsal for 'misleading' statement
FARAH SHAZWANI ALI RAIHAM MOHD SANUSIKUALA LUMPUR - Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli has submitted a motion to refer Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kalam (PN-Machang) to the Parliamentary Rights Committee for his defamatory statement against Pakatan Harapan (PH).
The Pandan MP said Fayhsal made a confusing statement over the abolishment of the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) loans in PH's manifesto during the 15th General Election (GE15).
"According to rule 36 (12) any member found creating a misleading statement is deemed to be in contempt of the council and members can be referred to the committee.
"Machang (Fayhsal) previously stated PH's manifesto will include abolishing PTPTN. That is false as it was never stated.
"The matter is a lie that falls under Standing Order 36 (12). I ask the Parliament to take action," he said at Dewan Rakyat, here, today.
Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Datuk Ramli Mohd Noor then asked Rafizi to put the motion in writing.
Rafizi previously interrupted an additional question session from Fayhsal over the government's efforts to aid the poor and B40 incoe group in PTPTN loan payment.
Fayhsal was reported to say: "Does the government have the political commitment to abolish PTPTN debt as promised in the recent manifesto?
"I know that Pandan (Rafizi) is a fighter for PTPTN and Hang Tuah Jaya (Adam Adli Abdul Halim) is an activist who truly wants to fight for PTPTN for the youth, is there truly a time frame for a real strategy?."
