Azmin's break from politics is irresponsible, says PKR man
SHAH ALAM - Bukit Antarabangsa State Assemblyman, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali's decision to take a break from politics is considered irresponsible.
PKR deputy information chief Razeef Rakimin stressed that as an elected representative, he should continue to serve until the end of his term.
"Azmin's actions clearly show that he is not a responsible representative for voters and residents of his constituency.
"I am sure that even though he is resting and not serving the people, Azmin is still receiving an allowance as the Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman.
"Do the leaders of Perikatan Nasional (PN) really like getting free salary like some ambassadors who are appointed without any function during the previous PN administration era," he said through a statement on Monday.
Previously, the media reported that Azmin who is also PN information chief had announced to take a short break from the political arena and to make new plans.
The former international trade and industry minister was also reported as saying that despite his temporary break, he is still determined to serve the people and the country in the future.
Meanwhile, Razeef also said the announcement to take a break from politics should be made together with the decision not to contest in the next general election.
However, he opined that Azmin's actions were made due to frustration after losing to his protégé, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, in Gombak in GE15, apart from fear of future legal cases that he might face.
"I want to tell Azmin that what he is going through today is because of the betrayal of PKR, Pakatan Harapan, and also the people who previously trusted him as Gombak's representative.
"I would also like to advise Azmin that if he wants to take a break, then take a break from politics forever since his credibility has been damaged and it is unlikely that the people will give their trust to traitors even after many political 'resets'," he stressed.
