Run for Umno youth chief post, Onn Hafiz told

Simpang Renggam Umno Division Youth vice chief candidate Syed Mohd Kazim Syed Nasir said Onn Hafiz is considered the most qualified because he has experience in the party and is able to govern Johor.
He said the clean image displayed by the great-grandson of the Umno founder is able to attract more youth to the party, bringing change and a new era to Umno Youth.
"Onn Hafiz became involve in the party in 2013 as the Umno Youth chief of the Sembrong Division. At the same time, he held the position of Umno Youth exco as well as political secretary to the then Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.
"Onn Hafiz was then given the space to hold the position of Umno vice chief of Simpang Renggam Division in 2018 before winning the 14th General Election (GE14) as a the Layang-Layang state assemblyman," he said when contacted today.
Besides that, he said, Onn Hafiz had also been appointed as the state Youth, Sports and Tourism exco and continued to excel when he won the Machap state seat in GE15, and was subsequently appointed as Menteri Besar after the Johor State Election in March last year.

Kazim who is also a member of the Umno Youth Student and Education Committee said that the grass roots of Umno Youth would be very pleased if Onn Hafiz responded to the call to run for Umno Youth chief.
"So far, there has been no statement given by Onn Hafiz regarding this call, but I am confident that Onn Hafiz will get support from the grassroots and many parties," he said.
Onn Hafiz is currently in Singapore on an official visit for three days starting Sunday.
Before that, former Umno Youth exco Datuk Muhamad Muqharabbin Mokhtarrudin described Onn Hafiz Ghazi as the most suitable candidate to hold the leadership of Umno Youth for the 2023-2026 term.
So far, two individuals have volunteered to run for the position of Umno Youth chief in the party elections next March, namely Umno supreme council member Datuk Armand Azha Abu Hanifah and Umno Youth secretary Hasmuni Hassan.
