ALOR GAJAH - A high school student did not get to celebrate his father's birthday as he was killed in an accident at Jalan Pegoh Dalam on Thursday night while he was heading to the celebratory dinner.

The impact of the accident caused Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Talib Karim student Muhammad Azrief Karim to succumb to his chest injuries at the location.

Alor Gajah District Police chief Superintendent Arshad Abu said the victim was riding a Modenas Kriss motorcycle on his way from Kampung Pegoh Dalam towards Pegoh.

"As he was riding his motorcycle, a Perodua Kelisa car driven by a 61-year-old man from the opposite direction suddenly made a right turn to enter a lane.

"The victim failed to avoid it and crashed into the side of the front passenger door of the car. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer," he said when contacted on Friday.

He said the victim was reported to be on his way to invite some friends over to his house for a meal to celebrate his father's birthday.

"The victim's body has been sent to Alor Gajah Hospital for the post-mortem process.

"The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said.
