SHAH ALAM - The Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda)'s central committee member Ainie Haziqah Shafiee has urged the Education Ministry to make sure every student in Malaysia receives equal education.

In an Instagram post today, Ainie said students must be given equal access to education regardless of their citizenship status.

This was after a Malaysian mother shared that her non-citizen son was not given RM150 (financial aid given by the government to all school children regardless of their families' income).

The boy's mother, Bibie Hamid, said she has received a letter from the school saying that her son is not eligible to receive the government's assistance of RM150.

"There should be no discrimination in giving out financial assistance to children, especially for educational purposes." "This is important to ensure that our children receive the best facilities; therefore, there should not be any room for this kind of issue.

"Children, no matter who they are, must have equal access to education," Ainie said in a 1 minute, 52 second video.

Commenting further, Ainie said children in Malaysia must be given equal education in terms of infrastructure, financial assistance, or any other type of assistance.

"Government, please take action," she insisted.
