SHAH ALAM - The Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) insists that they did not accuse any party of causing the disruption to the Ampang Light Rail Transit (LRT) line service.
The agency stated that they were working with relevant agencies to find the real cause of the incident.
In a statement today APAD said they were still waiting for reports from Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) who are conucting an investigation into the Ampang LRT line service disruption incident, which was said to be due to safety factors caused by aligment of bent tracks near the LRT City.
"APAD would like to emphasise that the main focus of this agency is the public's safety while using the public transport services every day.
"From previous statements, as initial safety measures in accordance with Regulation 8 of the Railway Act (Railway Protection Zone) 1998 [ PU (A) 367], APAD has recommended Kuala Lumpur Mayor to suspend or restrict activities in the railway protection zone," the agency's statement read.
In the meantime, all operations were halted until the actual cause of the disruption is known and all aspects and safety requirements are complied with by the project owner.
APAD stressed that all decisions taken by the agency were for the public safety and it is the government's priority to regulate the country's public transport industry.
Previously, Sinar reported that APAD's initial inspection and observation found a development work was carried out next to the railway track and in the LRT second reserve area without any consultation with the agency.
