All parties, large and small, are equally responsible for formation of government - Muda
SHAH ALAM - Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) says all political parties, large and small, are equally responsible for the formation of the government.
Its secretary general Amir Hariri Abd Hadi expressed his hope for the unity government to have a great communication between the secretariat and all parties who are supporting them.
“All parties have responsibilities, even if they do not hold any position in the government. We (Muda) also have members who want an explanation for any decisions and actions.
“It is not wrong to inform everyone. Notify us of any upcoming meetings and events, and perhaps provide an explanation of the meeting's outcome,” Amir told Sinar Daily.
Amir was responding to reports that Muda was not invited to the newly established unity government secretariat meeting on Tuesday, which Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said was due to the party not being one of its "founding members". However, Anwar said he would consider inviting Muda for future meetings.
“We explained before that the meeting was for the founding member parties but this matter will be brought up in the future.
“For future meetings, we will bring them in as they too are supporters of this government,” the Malay Mail reported.
Yesterday, Amir said Muda was among those who had signed the memorandum in December.
However, Muda only holds one federal seat in parliament, which is Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman for Muar.
The unity government's first secretariat meeting was held on Feb 7 (Tuesday), and the meeting had agreed on setting up three committees to look into communication strategies and elections.
